The Eze Ekpeye Loogbo, His Royal Majesty, Eze Robinson O. Robinson has escaped assassination, according to what we have heard.

A gun man reportedly scaled his fence at GRA Phase I Saturday and pretended, said sources in the house at the time to have been there to urinate.

When the security guards who are reportedly from the northern part of the country saw him, he said he had been invited by the Ekpeye monarch to see him.
Luckily for the Eze Ekpeye Loogbo, the security man chose to take the said visitor through the back of the house to see the natural ruler.

On getting to the back, the security man asked him to wait so he could reach the royal father.

The young man identified as an army deserter followed him closely.

It was at that point, from information received that some of the palace boys who suspected his movements accosted.

Eventually, they recognized him as the one who allegedly shot one of the persons who died during the Upata fracas that left three persons dead.
A quick search revealed the army deserter, as our sources claim, had a gun on him.

The Ekpeye monarch was attracted to the scene but he is said to have urged the youths not to do him bodily harm.

He allegedly called in the police at Olu Obasanjo Police station.
At the station, our sources said the man claimed he had been invited by the monarch.

Why he came into see the natural ruler with a gun became the central issue that was difficult to explain.

All the signs are that the matter might be destined for the State CID, that is, if it has not gotten there yet.

Feelers however, received tend to suggest CID has taken over the matter.
Why any one would want the eze dead remains a mystery.

But many Ekpeyes who have heard of the alleged plot seem to angry the attempt on his life may have something to do with the Upata matter.

Would the Eze be connected in any way to the Upata kingdom fracas?
Eze Robinson told this publication he knew nothing about the crisis.

On the day of the fracas, the royal father had been holding a meeting of the Eze Ekpeye Loogbo in council, had been in attendance.

The only chief absent, sources in the Ekpeye hinted was Eze C.C. Nwuche.
The Eze Ekpeye Loogbo told the Telegraph that while they were meeting, some boys from Upata who came with a complaint.

They had hinted there would be a breakdown of law and order if Nwuche attempted to go ahead with a meeting.

The traditional ruler explained members of the council of traditional rulers and chiefs cautioned the boys against violence and resolved to refer the matter to the police.

Now, the Eze is the target of an attempted assassination, with one man in police net.
