A 67-year-old man has been arrested by the police in Ondo State for allegedly being the mastermind of various robbery operations in the state.
A 67-year-old man has been arrested by the police in Ondo State for allegedly being the mastermind of various robbery operations in the state.
Identified as Samuel Onoyoyi, the man who was arrested with some members of his gang confessed to the police that he had been an armed robber for the past 20 years, but has now resigned from the job.
Speaking with Daily Sun, the veteran robber confessed openly, saying:
'God, knows how to pay back whoever is engaging in evil act without repenting and surrendering his life to the Lord Jesus Christ."
He said he knew the police would catch up with him and his boys but added that when he got the premonition, he was encouraged by the devil who assured him that there was no need to worry.
Onoyoyi said: 'Devil knows how to give out fake fortunes and collect it back in many fold. The devil led me into robbery and this same devil has exposed me."
The repentant robber preached the gospel saying that God ministered to him to quit robbery and 'I had decided to do away with evil deeds, but devil blindfolded me and I did not know when I went back to the robbery business.
'See what is happening to me at my age when I am supposed to be moving closer to God."
He confessed that he denied himself the opportunity of getting married so as not to be exposed by any woman, pointing out that it would have been difficult to raise a family as a robber.
The suspect advised persons intending to go into robbery business to desist from such act and give their lives to God. He said God was the only one that could give them comfort.
