A businessman, Edwin Akubue has alleged before a Lagos High Court that the General Overseer of the Christian Praying Assembly, Emeka Ezeuko, known as Most Honourable Reverend Dr. King is having "an adulterous affair" with his wife, Ebele.

A businessman, Edwin Akubue has alleged before a Lagos High Court that the General Overseer of the Christian Praying Assembly, Emeka Ezeuko, known as Most Honourable Reverend Dr. King is having "an adulterous affair" with his wife, Ebele.

Edwin Akabue, who was a leader of the Grace Ministers in Rev. King's Church, made the revelation in a counter affidavit he deposed to contesting the divorce suit brought against him by his wife of 13 years, with whom he is blessed with six children.

"That trouble started in my marriage when the said Rev. King started having an adulterous affair with my wife, the petitioner and I protested against such act from a self-styled Man of God," the respondent pleaded.

He said prior to the appointment of his wife as a woman leader in the church, he was made a leader of the Grace Ministries in the same church and also in ‘Group B,' which necessitated his spending hundreds of thousands of Naira for the church.

Other averments in the counter affidavit read thus:
. That when it became apparent that my wife was having sexual relations with the Rev. King, I stopped going to the church and asked my wife to also quit the church.

. That my wife absconded from our matrimonial home on the November 17 2005 in protest to my demand that she should quit the church.
. That my wife, the petitioner, was instructed by Rev. King to abscond from our matrimonial home and the said Rev. King had earlier instructed her to stop wearing her wedding ring.

. That immediately my wife absconded, the Rev. King and my wife's brother Augustine Eze conspired and sent a bus to my house to pack my belongings and my five children away to an unknown destination.
According to Edwin Akubue, who alongside his attorney, Mr. F.O. Akerele, appeared in court on Wednesday, the petitioner, "stopped taking care of our children and started leaving home as early as 7a.m and returning after midnight. Later she started sleeping over in Rev. King's office when he claimed to have appointed her to work in his office and I was asked by Rev. King to pay her from my personal income a monthly salary of N10, 000 that I have always done.

He stated that he assigned a car to his wife and paid her N3,000 weekly to buy fuel for the car to take the children to and from school, but his wife used the car for the activities of Rev. King and the church.
The respondent, prayed that the custody of the children of the marriage should be granted to him pending the determination of the petition and dismiss the petition.

The petitioner, Ebele Akubue, however, had prayed the court to dissolve the marriage on the grand that the respondent (Edwin Akubue) behaved in such a way that the petitioner can no longer live with him.
The respondent, she started, in a suit filed through her counsel, Ebele Obi, "is a man of ungoverned and violent temper, and of drunken, and of strange and unreasonable habit and obsessed with the practice of Juju and sinister spiritual involvement's.

The petitioner alleged among others that immediately after their wedding, the respondent tricked her to a celestial church in Iyana Ipaja, Lagos and insisted that she stays there for one and half months, and she was subjected to various inhuman treatment like bathing n aked in broad daylight in the stream in the full glore of passersby.
She further deposed that the respondent received young and indecently dressed ladies in the house without any known connection.

The same controversy in the family already has another litigation where Akabue complained to the police that Rev. King kidnapped his five children.
Rev. King and an elder in his church, Augustine Eze are facing kidnap charges before an Igbosere Chief Magistrate's court.

The four charges against Rev. King stated that he kidnapped the children and has refused their father access to them.
