The accident occurred late on Saturday at Kwarna-Jagga in Jigawa state when a local bus, which was trying to overtake another vehicle, crashed into another bus carrying 25 people on their way to a wedding ceremony in Gombe state.
The two buses burst into flames and many of the victims were burned beyond recognition. Five other passengers were injured, most of them critically, police said.
The victims were buried on Sunday.
