A female student of Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) is currently in hiding from cultists who gave her an unkind cut on the check, and also later knocked out her tooth.
For daring to challenge a cultist who jumped the queue at a water tap, Miss Nkemjika Arinze is now scarred for life, and currently running for dear life.
The year two Business Administration student told Daily Sun that she had been appointed by her sister to assist in selling water on December 15, 2004, when a young man called Okwudili came.
"He jumped the queue instead of waiting for his turn, and when the others complained, I told him to go back and take his place on the queue," Miss Arinze says. "He asked me why I should give him instructions. He warned that if I touched his container, he would deal with me. Before I knew what was happening, four other boys had come, and they attacked me with broken bottles, wounding me on the cheek."
As if that was not grievous enough, four days later, a masked figure broke into Nkemjika's room early in the morning, attacked her, broke her tooth and stole her cellphone.
The distraught lady says her assailants are known to be cultists, hence her being in hiding.
Nkemjika received 20 stitches on the cheek, and the case has been reported at Ogui Police Station, Enugu.
