LAGOS, Feb. 15 (Xinhuanet) -- At least six fishermen were feared killed on Wednesday as two military helicopters attacked a community in the southern Nigerian state of Delta, the community chairman said.
"The helicopters shot from the air, wounding several people while six people are feared dead," said Perezouweikore Ebiwei of the Perezouweikoregnene community in the Gbaramatu area of the oil-rich state by phone.
Ebiwei said members of the community were running away after the attack in the afternoon. The military, however, denied the invasion, saying that it was directed against barges being used by oil smugglers. Enditem
