The match hero against Tunisia Vincent Enyeama has been hailed by all and sundry after he brought the Eagles back into the game after Joseph Yobo and Yussuf Ayila had thrown away their penalty kicks during the penalty shootout against Tunisia here at the weekend.

"Enyeama saved us. He was brilliant after we gave him the chance to prove his critics wrong that he is not good at stopping penalties," said a proud Austin Eguavoen.

The tearful Bnei Yahuda of Israel goalkeeper also got a special gift from Sports Minister Ismaila Sambawa, who described the victory as "incredible".

"I'm unbelievably happy by this win but there is no cause for any celebrations now because we still have two more matches standing between us and the cup," said the minister, who will head back to Nigeria this week after he watched the Eagles splendid showing at the weekend.

"I had lost hope after we lost our two kicks but Enyeama with the help of Allah and the prayers of millions of Nigerians saved the day for us," said midfielder Sani Kaita, who is still waiting for his first taste of action here in Egypt.

"Thank you Vincent," simply said Wilson Oruma.

Meanwhile, the players each received 7,000 US dollars for their win over Tunisia.

They will have a light workout around their Helnan Hotel here in Port Said later Sunday and leave for Alexandria Monday morning.

The semifinal clash with the Ivorian Elephants is slated for 3pm local time that is 2pm Nigerian time on Tuesday.
