Nigerian soccer icon, Nwankwo Kanu is full of praises for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, describing the Egypt 2006 Nations Cup squad as the best in the history of the National team.
'I'm quite delighted with the spirit in the team," Kanu said. 'This is the best camp of the Super Eagles I have come to.The family atmosphere is fantastic and I have a strong faith that we will not let Nigerians down in Egypt."
The Super Eagles hit Port Said 6.30pm Friday, and Kanu vowed to break the jinx of not having Nations Cup goals in his previous participation.
Kanu also brushed off worries over his fitness for the 2006 MTN Africa Cup of Nations.
The Nigerian star was a doubt for the tournament after fracturing his cheekbone playing in an FA Cup tie for West Bromwich Albion against Reading earlier this month. But like the special comeback kid that he is, Kanu went through the surgeon blades once again and he came out with absolute success.
He joined the Eagles in Faro where he had fantastic training with the rest of the squad. After training in Faro on Wednesday, Kanu pronounced himself fit and ready for Nigeria's clash with Ghana on January 23.
'I do not have any problem with my fitness," Kanu said
