Respite was the word at the Super Eagles camp in Faro, Portugal, as news filtered in from London that the duo of Nwankwo Kanu and Joseph Yobo were at the airport on their way to Faro.

Super Eagles camp co-ordinator Sunmonu Bello-Osagie who spoke with the Daily Sunsport from the team's training at the Ria Park Hotel said the players were highly excited about the news.

'At last, I can tell you authoritatively that Kanu and Yobo will be in the camp this evening," Osagie said. 'I just spoke with them now and they told me they were at the airport."
Kanu sustained an injury recently and had to go through the surgeon's blade once again. But he was certied fit for the MTN/Nations Cup, though he would miss the Super Eagles first match against the Black Stars of Ghana on January 23 at the Port Said Stadium. Yobo, who also had shoulder injury, put up a superb form, Saturday and was voted Man-of-the-Match in Everton's 1-0 away victory over relegation threatened Portsmouth.

According to Osagie, the players are in sparkling form in training and the coming of Kanu and Yobo will further boost the morale in camp. 'The players have told us that they will take every match with absolute seriousness. We have learnt a lot of lessons from our first match against Morocco two years ago. That defeat in Tunisia was the shock of our lives. So they are prepared to face Ghana squarely.
'The coaches have done enough of the talking, and the players have vowed to do the work effectively. Thank God, there are no injury scare in the team."

Osagie also told us that the much-talked-about international Grade A match against FC Cologne of Germany had been put off because of the Eagles schedule.
He disclosed that the match could not hold because FC Cologne want it played tomorrow while the Eagles want it today before they are jetting out of Faro on Thursday morning.
But the coaching crew have resolved to play the possibles against the probables today for 90 minutes, he said.
