Nigerian clubs miss CAF deadline

After their first board meeting in Lagos, the Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima board led Nigeria Football Association announced a five point communique which further revealed that due to the closure of their Abuja secretariat the clubs representing Nigeria in this years continental championships failed to meet CAF deadline for registration.

The board resolved as follows:

*The board will give all needed support and assistance to the Super Eagles in their Nations Cup campaign in Egypt.
* The executive committee is extremely disturbed by the inability of the Four clubs having continental engagements to meet the registration deadline which expires today. This is consequent upon the closure of the NFA Secretariat .

The Board therefore appeals to the Honourable Minister of Sports and Social Development to re-open the Secretariat to enable our clubs do the registration formalities.

We equally appeal to CAF to understand our present predicament and extend the registration deadline for the Four clubs.
*The Executive Committee has resolved to set up machinery to commence dialogue with all the stakeholders of football towards resolving the current impasse.
* In view of the need to have working document that will guide the NFA in the next four years, a Blue Print indicating the mission and vision of the new Board will be unfolded six weeks after the Nations Cup

* Finally, the Board thanked all Nigerians, particularly the football family for their patience and support and appeals for their continued understanding.
