FG houses go on sale

In defiance to a letter from Messrs Wale Babalakin & Co., asking Mallam El-Rufai to suspend the run-off bidding slated for Thursday, the Minister has gone ahead with the exercise asking Mr. Babalakin to go to court if he feels aggrieved.

In defiance to a letter from Messrs Wale Babalakin & Co., asking Mallam El-Rufai to suspend the run-off bidding slated for Thursday, the Minister has gone ahead with the exercise asking Mr. Babalakin to go to court if he feels aggrieved.

Babalakin, Saturday Sun learnt had bidded for one of the Federal Government Houses in Wuse, for N140 million, but the auction committee said the house was advertised with two different addresses. According to the Minister's aide, Dr. Abdul Muktar, who supervised the run-off bidding, the said house which is at No.1 Katsina-Ala Street was advertised as being on No.30 Katsina-Ala Street.

The error, he continued, made the committee to organise a run off bid for both Econut Oil & Gas Company and Wale Babalakin, since the two had emerged winners at end of the first bidding for the same house but advertised under wrong addresses.

And since Wale Babalakin failed to show up on Thursday apparently based on his letter of protest to the Minister, Econut Oil & Gas company was declared winner of the bid having submitted a N160 million bid for the said property.

Meanwhile, one of the previously tied bid was also resolved. It went to Penta Soft Nigeria Limited, which added about N1.6 million to its earlier bid of about N9.5 million, to beat Shehu Anka who added about N1.3 million to his earlier bid for a flat on Alexanda Crescent in Wuse II, Abuja. Both parties had tied on about N9.5 during the first bidding.
