Atiku's camp reacts: Gbenga rude, uncultured

The Vice President's camp declined last night to join issues with Dr. Gbenga Obasanjo over his interview in which he called the second citizen names.

ABUJA - The Vice President's camp declined last night to join issues with Dr. Gbenga Obasanjo over his interview in which he called the second citizen names.
The Vice President's camp said 'young men who attack men old enough to be their father are dismissed as rude and uncultured."

Spokesman for the group, Alhaji Garba Shehu, contacted, said: 'The VP is on Sallah break in Yola. Even if he was in town, it is unlikely that he will join issues with a son of the President. What is the young man's platform? He is neither a politician nor a public office holder.

"Gbenga Obasanjo is not the Vice President's age mate. In fact, the Vice President has a son who may be as old as, perhaps a better achiever than Gbenga. So that young man's only qualification, to speak and to be quoted in the media, is that he is one of the President's sons.

"If the idea is that he should be replied to, the Vice President's son is the one to appropriately respond. The VP doesn't belong to a culture in which children trade words will elders.

"Young men who attack men old enough to be their father are dismissed as rude and uncultured. This boy will not be glorified with a response. Let the mask come off the face of the masquerade and we face each other.
'It is for me to add that the flow of communication on matters on all BPE approvals is that they begin with the DG, to the Vice President, then to the Council and, finally to the President. The Vice President is not the approving authority. We are not aware that the procedure has changed. On the specific case of Pentascope, it was very much the same."
