Atiku's Men Launch 2007 Campaign

Turaki Vanguard, the political group of Vice President Atiku Abubakar said yesterday that Atiku's 2007 Presidential campaign would be formally flaged off next month with the commissioning of an ultra-modern office complex in Abuja.

Following what the group described as uncountable travails falling on their principal and some key sponsors of the group, members "have resolved to restructure, reposition and refocus to give Nigerians the needed direction out of the present murky political situation in the country."

A statement by the group signed by Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, National Director, Media Affairs and Public Communication, said the movement is poised to reform the ugly trends evident within the Nigerian polity.

According to the statement, "we thank God for sparing our lives to see the year 2006. The year of destiny that will usher in our ideal president by 2007. A listening president that will carry all Nigerians along and whose programmes and polices will have human face and will usher in the golden and glorious stage in Nigeria. A stage that will make our naira take its rightful position amongst other international monetary exchange in the world."

Eze added that while the group positions itself to move Nigeria forward, "we may not pay much attention to the tricks and pranks of some fading politicians that will soon be history. With this new vision and zeal, this great movement hope to rekindle the patriotic faith of Nigerians in our country and prepare them to taking their destiny in their own hands."

While soliciting the support of Nigerians, the group stressed: "We are also not ignorant of the plots of our friends and will like to reiterate that no amount of intimidation, harassment and blackmail will deter us from creating a new development path to enable our country face the new millennium challenges."
