Mu'azu reportedly narrowly escaped assassination when some hoodlums attacked his motorcade some five km to the Azare town in the north of the state where he was scheduled to attend a wedding ceremony.
"Competent sources" were quoted as saying that those arrested were assisting the police in their investigations.
The State Police Commissioner Ibiyinka Kayode had admitted in a statement that some people had been arrested in connection with the incident.
"Some people were arrested in connection with the incident and investigation is in progress," the statement said.
Nigerian newspapers had said that five people were killed during the incident, but Kayode claimed these reports were "false and unfounded," saying that no life was lost while only three people sustained injuries.
Nigeria's This Day daily however described the assassination as "a clash" between supporters of Mu'azu and those of former aviation minister Madam Isa Yuguda. It said trouble started when supporters of Yuguda were prevented by security operatives from attending the wedding. Enditem
