The three men identified as Sunday Ajayi, Ismaila Mustapha and Rilwanu Balogun were caught at Boladale Street, Oshodi, while on their way to Mushin, a crime infested part of Lagos.
Sunday Sun learnt that the police intercepted the suspects as they boarded a commercial motorcycle to Mushin to carry out the ritual.
Sunday Sun also gathered that when the men got to a police check-point at Boladale Street, they tried to deceive the cops that what they had inside a polythene bag was the skull of a Chimpanzee. But the police, believing their tale insisted on further searching the bag, they were, however bewildered to discovered that it contain a human skull.
The witness who declined to be mentioned said: 'When the police stopped and was searching them, because of the little drama that ensued we stopped to know what the problem was. And when they proceeded to search the bag they carried it was discover that what the three men were carrying was not an animal skull but a human skull"
On of the suspected ritualists, Ismaila Mustapha who claimed to be an Islamic cleric from Ilero, Oyo State, told Sunday Sun that the skull found on them was intended for money making rituals and for protection.
Blaming his travail on the devil, Mustapha explained that: 'Na handy work of Satan, I never kill before, I just want to make quick money"
Confirming the arrest of the suspected ritualists, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Makinde Police Station, Mr Joe Olatomokun, disclosed that it intelligence of his officers on operation stop and search that got the men arrested.
According to him, due to the strategies put in place to ensure free and peaceful yuletide celebration for the inhabitants of Mafoluku and its environs at strategic locations a lot of criminal activities have been uncovered with the most recent being the arrest of the three men.
