“I have seen Nwankwo Kanu. I have seen Daniel Amokachi. I tell you good players are here”, he said of the talents that are in the mode of Super Eagles players like Amokachi, who is now a coach. The trials in Lagos will start today at the National Stadium and will run up to Wednesday and Thursday.

“Do you know where I saw Amokachi and Kanu? They are from Sokoto, unbelievable, more are coming I tell you. He said of the one that plays exactly like Kanu : “He’s full of skill, he’s a kid with a head of an old man as far as football is concerned.
Of the one that runs like Amokachi, he said, “He’s a potential, very strong. I’ve never been more confident”.
Westerhof concluded the trials in Benin on Friday and described it as a huge success. He expects a full house in Lagos. and known as one of the great homes of football in Nigeria, Lagos will thrill during the trial. Students who excel in the trials will qualify for admission into the school that will offer them scholarship.

He had severally said that he was determined to produce players who will take the Super Eagles to greater heights and having a shot at the World Cup. He’s known for the great feat of taking Nigeria to number 5 on the FIFA world ranking after winning the Tunisia ‘94 African Nations Cup and taking Nigeria to her first World Cup, churning out stars like Amokachi, Emmanuel Amuneke and Finidi George.
He also reshaped the national team to become a pride in the continent. But the light began to dim on Nigeria football immediately he left. With the football academy, Westerhof says “there is hope for Nigeria.”

Sokari doesn’t mean joy. Joy is Biobela. Go to the village and ask the meaning of the name.
