Keshi an SSS 3 female student unlike her colleagues survived the crash. Although Keshi was said to have suffered severe burns she is receiving treatment at the Braithwaite Memorial Hospital, Port Harcourt.
An official of the College who pleaded anonymity while speaking with our correspondent, said the students had attended the yearly Christmas carol organised for them before they proceeded on vacation last Friday. He said most of the students who died in the crash, took part in the carol session.
He said the end of term cum Christmas party originally planned for the teachers last night was cancelled following the disaster. On the number of victims from Jesuit, he said it was difficult to ascertain given the fact that some of them dropped off at the Enugu Airport. He confirmed that the flight was a combined flight, taking passengers from Abuja to Port Harcourt en route Enugu.
Our source who described the incident as calamitious, said the disaster happened before some parents who had gone to Port Harcourt Airport to pick their wards. He said an official statement would be issued by the school authorities after due consultations with parents and guardians of the students. As at last night, he said the President of the College, Fr. Shinela was out of the country but added that efforts were being made to contact him on the development. Meanwhile, the source said parents, guardians as well as students bombarded the college yesterday night frantically seeking information on the accident.
