He expressed worry at the level the federal government was getting involved at getting the embattled Governor Diepreye Alamiesiegha to face trial in London after the governor jumped bail and returned to Nigeria.
At the presentation of the 2004/2005 annual report of the committee, Hon. Amadiegwu said the way the federal government had thrown its hat into the ring was a source of concern for Alamieyeseigha's interrogators.
'What is at stake now is not the integrity of the nation, it is the integrity of the constitution of the Federal Republic, I want the public to see it that way. I am saying this because the obssession shown by the federal government we learnt is scaring the interrogators," Hon. Amadie-gwu said.
Chairman of the committee, Dr. Usman Bugaje had decline making categorical statement on the position of the Foreign Affairs Committee on the implications of the escape of the Bayelsa State governor who was standing trial on charges of money laundering in a London court.
Hon Bugaje said his committee was still studying the development in Bayelsa State and at the appropriate time the position of the committee would be made known after consultations.
He said the committee had succeeded in organizing the first conference of national parliament of ECOWAS member states where the asylum granted former Liberian president, Charles Taylor was debated.
