A man of high credibility, a journalist, former lawmaker and now a quiet business person has been appointed to chair the electoral committee that would conduct the forthcoming Nigeria Football Association election.
A man of high credibility, a journalist, former lawmaker and now a quiet business person has been appointed to chair the electoral committee that would conduct the forthcoming Nigeria Football Association election.
He is Honourable Nduka Irabor. The NFA announced his name and ten others who will conduct the elections that have been fixed for December 30. Nduka serves as chairman while Barrister Okey Obi, NFA's legal officer acts as secretary.
Other notable members of the electoral body include Issa Idris, who is the national secretary of Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria, Layiwola Olaogun, Mohammed Danladi Maiduga, Abdul Abubakar, Chief Eke Oyeforo and E.E. Ebito.
Also in the committee is a representative of the sports ministry. NFA will send a representative too.
And to make the election highly credible, the NFA has invited a representative of Confederation of African Football, CAF will be present as an observer.
The election will usher in a new board that is expected to replace the Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima board.
The committee will be inaugurated today in Abuja.
The new board will have 17 members. The chairman, two from each of the six geographical zones, chairman of the league who shall also serve as the vice chairman, one representative of the Premier Leagues Division Clubs, one from the Professional League and one member representing chairmen of state football associations.
Irabor is deep into football. He played the game and had bias for sports as a journalist. He still follows the game and has been of tremendous help to football technocrats. Silently, he supports and promotes the game and the likes of Samson Siasia can testify to the assistance he renders to football managers and coaches.
