Prosecute Omojola's killers -Relations

DEPENDANTS of the slain Holland-based Nigerian, Mr Tunde Omojola, have urged the Ekiti State Attorney -General and Commissioner for Justice to prosecute those allegedly linked with his killing.

DEPENDANTS of the slain Holland-based Nigerian, Mr Tunde Omojola, have urged the Ekiti State Attorney -General and Commissioner for Justice to prosecute those allegedly linked with his killing.

The dependants are Mr. Kayode Omojola, Mrs. Sola Omojola, Miss Omobola Omojola and Miss Yinka Adeniyi.

The late Omojola was said to have been beaten to death by an armed gang at Ifaki Ekiti on May 28.

Omojola was one of the election monitors of the National Conscience Party councillorship candidate, Mr Labaika Suleiman, during the May 28 bye-election at Ifaki- Ekiti.

In a letter addressed to the commissioner on November 21 by their lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana, but made available to our correspondent in Lagos on Monday, the dependants claimed that a report of the investigation and the case file by the State Security Service had been submitted to the state chief law officer.

They added that the development was to enable the commissioner commence the prosecution of the offenders.

They also claimed that a copy of the letter had been forwarded to President Olusegun Obasanjo and the Director of SSS.

Speaking on behalf of his clients, Falana said, " The report of the investigation is to the effect that the deceased was murdered and that the following persons (names withheld), among others, were responsible for the murderous act.

"Accordingly, our clients hereby demand that you use your good offices to charge and arraign the accused persons before a competent court for the offence of the murder of the deceased.

"However, if you have not received the report from the SSS, our clients demand that you request for the full report, including all written documentary evidence, to enable you prosecute those who were involved in the shameless broad day murder of a healthy young man and bread winner of the applicants.

"In the alternative, we request that you grant them a fiat for the prosecution of these accused persons."

The dependants also demanded a response from the commissioner within 14 days from the date of the receipt of the letter.
