PDP Urged to Stop Internal Bickering

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been urged to find solution to the internal crisis threatening to tear it apart as such bickering is inimical to the welfare of the masses.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been urged to find solution to the internal crisis threatening to tear it apart as such bickering is inimical to the welfare of the masses.

The call was made yesterday by Igbo Youth Movement (IYM) in a statement issued in Enugu by its President, Evangelist Eliot Uko.

'Such high drama though entertaining and quite amusing does not in any way ameliorate the suffering and economic hardship Nigerians are going through at this time," he said, adding that 'little seriousness with governance will help us all a great deal."

Uko said PDP must face up to the fact that the business of governance was a serious one and should brace up to the challenge of mitigating the economic hardship facing Nigerians instead of indulging in the game of outwitting one another.

IYM leader said a lot of issues that are very pertinent to the corporate existence of Nigeria remain unattended to while the ruling party performs its high political drama, citing the report of National Political Reform Conference and electoral reform.

He described as 'worrisome" the continued silence on the confab report that such silence 'pints towards a deliberate attempt to fool Nigerians and silence advocates of genuine political restructuring of Nigeria."

Uko said it would be unfortunate if deception was the officials posturing as it would boomerang sooner than later and lead the nation to unpleasant consequences.

He said: 'The continuous refusal to address fundamental issues of lopsided and unfair political structure of Nigeria's federating units will surely lead to unpleasant and unhealthy disturbances someday.
