Another huge storm is brewing at the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EDCC) in Abuja, as the Deputy Vice-Chairman, (South) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was invited for a chat Thursday.
A source at EFCC said: 'Yes, we invited him to answer a few questions and we let him go."
All efforts to reach the PDP chieftain yesterday proved abortive, but Daily Sun investigations revealed that the invitation may not be unconnected with his activities as chairman of the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) board, during which a fraud of N35 billion was said to have been uncovered.
Defending Chief George, the party's Publicity Secretary, South-West, Mr Muyiwa Collins, told Daily Sun in a telephone chat: 'There is no iota of truth in that story. I was with Chief Olabode George from 9am till 7pm today (Thursday) in Abuja. The enemies are at work again. They will continue to fail.
'It's all about 2007. They only want to discredit him. Bode George is a well known figure in the country. He cannot be hiding. He attended the CWC meeting of the party in Abuja today and he was part of all the decisions taken."
