Wife alleges plot to poison Uwazuruike

WIFE of leader of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Chief (Mrs.) Omekadiya Uwazuruike has raised fresh alarm over her detained husband's continued safety, alleging that there is a plot by his captors to kill him.

"I have been getting frequent calls on how they want to poison my husband. The other day somebody called me and said he would not want to identify himself but that they want to force my husband to take an injection," she told Daily Champion Friday in Lagos.

She spoke ahead of Wednesday's expiration of a two-week ultimatum to the federal government to release Uwazuruike by MASSOB's women wing.

According to her, "there is no going back on earlier threat by the affected women to march on the Presidential Villa, Abuja naked if the MASSOB leader is not set free.

Uwazuruike is being detained in Abuja where he is on trial for alleged treasonable felony.

However, raising fears on her husband's safety, Omekadiya said latest alarm is the second within seven days, adding that she had petitioned the State Security Service (SSS) on moves by some powerful forces to poison Uwazuruike.

Reiterating her call for the unconditional release of her husband, the MASSOB women leader urged President Olusegun Obasanjo to ensure that nothing untoward befell Uwazuruike since he (Obasanjo) survived after he was clamped into prison also on charges of treasonable felony.

Exuding confidence, Omekadiya said "I want President Obasanjo to know that when he was held under treasonable felony charges, he was not crucified but later he became president.

Asked if MASSOB women would march naked from Wednesday, Mrs. Uwazuruike said yes but would be preceded by wide consultations because "we are not practising democracy but autocracy".

Also resolving not to back down on the clamour for the actualization of a sovereign state of Biafra, she said her happiest day in life would be when the Biafran nation is born.

On whether she will continue the fight if anything untoward happens to her husband, she replied.... "I pray that even if anything is going to happen to him, let it be on Biafran land when he has actualized Biafra. I know that even if he dies after he has actualized the Biafran dream, he will be the greatest man on earth."
