UNIPORT gets new Dean, Students' Affairs


Dr. Stephen Agochi Okodudu has been made the new Dean, Students' Affairs Department of the University of Port Harcourt, Choba.

Dr. Stephen Agochi Okodudu has been made the new Dean, Students' Affairs Department of the University of Port Harcourt, Choba.

The appointment, which took immediate effect on January 1, 2005, was signed by Professor Tubonimi Briggs, the Vice Chancellor of the institution. Dr. Okodudu replaces Professor Charles Oyegun whose tenure expired at the end of last year.

Dr. Okodudu whose appointment has been applauded by various sections of the institution is a senior lecturer in sociology and anthropology department. Many members of the institution interviewed expressed gratitude over the appointment describing the choice of Dr. Okodudu as a very wise option.
In a chat with our man last Friday at the Dean's office, Choba, this Delta State-born academic said that his primary interest is to deliver quality welfare services to the students of the school and make sure that peace and tranquility is maintained.

In his words: "I have the primary challenge of bringing sanity to this institution." Asked how he would go about it, he responded, "first, by improving the security standard here to protect the lives and property of students as well as everyone in this environment; secondly, by improving the hygienic condition of the school and doing away with illegitimate students who colonize the hostels at the detriment of the bonafide ones."

Prior to his appointment, Dr. Okodudu has been a staff adviser to the students since 1998.

He promised to utilize his wealth of mutual interaction with the students to great heights.
