Armed bandits have killed four Policemen who were traveling from Port Harcourt to Aba in Abia State and made away with the sum of N50 million said to be meant for the payment of some contractors.

The incident which occurred at Obehe in Ukwa East Local Government Area junction along Port Harcourt Aba express road, took place at exactly 1.47 pm.

Our reporter who was on his way to Aba reports that the robbers numbering six who heard the siren of the vehicle sensed that the Policemen were coming with money, blocked the road with drums, tyres, trees and immediately exchanged gunshots with the policemen resulting in the death of the policemen.

The men of the underworld who later captured the driver of the car, shot him on the leg and forced him to open the van, thus enabling them to carted away the sum of fifty million naira (N50m) and zoomed-off to an unknown destination.
The driver then shouted: "They have carried the sum of N50 million and killed the escorts. What will I do to recover the money".

An Okada rider with registration number QA 143 UKW took the driver to an undisclosed location in an attempt to recover the amount.

As at the time of filing this report, the lifeless bodies of the policemen were still on the express road, a situation that made many people to desert the area including other policemen at checkpoints.

Meanwhile, the residents of Obehe have called on the Bakassi Boys to come to their aid since the policemen have failed in their duty to protect lives and property especially at the Obehe junction.

Mr. Israel Ihemere, a businessman at Ariaria market in Aba, said that it was only the Bakassi group that would reduce crimes in the state especially at the express road, alleging that the police have helped to multiply crimes.
In another development, Mobile Policemen have shot two suspected robbers who snatched a vehicle belonging to a lady at gunpoint.

The owner of the vehicle who came out from the MTN headquarters in Port Harcourt raised an alarm immediately while the Mobile Policemen on duty at the office went after them.

The Mobile men signaled other colleagues who rounded up the robbers and gave them the beating of their lives.

Trouble started when the robbers tried to snatch the guns of the Mobile Policemen who wasted no time and shot them on their knees, hand-cuffed and took them away.

The lady who could not hold back her tears when she discovered that her vehicle has been damaged beyond repairs was consoled by eye-witnesses and the Mobile Policemen.
