Traditional ruler, son, others charged for robbery


A Traditional ruler in Ebonyi State, Eze Francis Ajogu of Ndofia, Nkaliki- Echara in Ozibo local government area, his son and two others have been charged to court for armed robbery.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Ebonyi police command, Inspector Godwin O. Wekwa, the accused persons were alleged to have robbed a businesswoman, Mrs Mbam Onwe, of more than N2 million at gunpoint. The PPRO stated that three other accomplices escaped adding that efforts are on to track the fleeing robbers.

He noted that the suspects confessed to the crime upon which they were remanded in prison custody to await the advise of the DPP.Items recovered from the robbers, he added include one Motorcycle, one Samsung GSM handset, one automatic pistol and one axe.

Inspector Wekwa disclosed that on interrogation, the traditional ruler admitted that he gave the gun to his son saying that he recovered the axe from rioting students of Ojiegbe Secondary School. The victim, Mrs Onwe, told The Guardian how the son of the Traditional Ruler, Fidelis Ajogu, alongside six others came to her house at about 6.55 pm in the guise that they were police officers from the Police Headquarters.
