"We have no interest in Ngige's appeal against tribunal's verdict"

A faction of the PDP in Anambra State has restated its position that it has no interest in the appeal Governor Chris Ngige filed at the Court of Appeal sitting at Enugu challenging the judgement of the Anambra State Election Petition Tribunal which nullified Ngige's election and declared Mr. Peter Obi of APGA the winner of the election.

AWKA - A faction of the PDP in Anambra State has restated its position that it has no interest in the appeal Governor Chris Ngige filed at the Court of Appeal sitting at Enugu challenging the judgement of the Anambra State Election Petition Tribunal which nullified Ngige's election and declared Mr. Peter Obi of APGA the winner of the election.

Anambra State PDP also confirmed that Chief Chris Uba, Ngige's estranged political godfather has been re-admitted into the party at both ward, local government and state levels, and dismissed a statement credited to Chief Ifeatu-Obi-Okoye that Uba has not been re-admitted by his Aguata local government area chapter.

Speaking to Vanguard yesterday, the state publicity secretary of the party, Mr. Afam Ilounoh said that the party never refuted a statement credited to Chief Victor Umeh, acting National Chairman of APGA that Ngige's lawyers were dodging service of the records of proceedings. Ilounoh said PDP could not have refuted it because it has no interest in the matter.

Ngige's appeal, he said is purely between him and Peter Obi of APGA and that PDP is not involved. He said that Chief Ifeatu Obi-Okoye who made the said rebuttal is not a member of PDP, claiming that he was a former Vice-Chairman of the party in the state but has since been dismissed.

' PDP has no hand in the appeal. The appeal Ngige filed at Enugu is between him and APGA. PDP never faulted Umeh's statement because the party is not interested in the appeal. What Umeh said about Ngige's lawyers dodging service must have been based on his personal observation and which might be true going by Ngige's penchant to delay the matter and buy more time. 'The so-called rebuttal did not come from the PDP, Anambra State.
