ALLIANCE for Democracy (AD), yesterday protested the death of one of its leaders, Mr. Wale Ojumu alleged to have been stabbed by hoodlums at Idumota weekend. They accused the Police of complicity in the matter.

Speaking to newsmen during the protest which took off from the General Hospital Mortuary where members of the party had converged in their hundred to collect the corpse, Mr. Lateef Raji, Secretary of the party in Lagos State said the killing was one too many. He claimed it was masterminded by PDP members said to enjoying the protection of the Police.
At the Lion Building where they had gone to dump the body of Mr. Ojumu to show their displeasure over the unwholesome role the Police have been playing, Mr. Raji told Mr. Paul Ahmed that even one of their men, Mr. Abu Arogunmasa who had gone to the mortuary to identify the corpse was arrested by the Police.
In what almost led to hot argument but for the maturity of men of the force and leaders of the party at the station, Mr. Raji accused a top officer of the PDP of backing the hoodlums to perpetrate heinous crimes on the people of the party.
Recalling that few months ago, about 11 members of the AD were arrested and detained on his orders at the Panti police station for about three months without formal charge preferred against them, Mr Raji said the PDP top officer was only hell-bent on introducing unhealthy political intrigues to spread mayhem and bloodshed.
His words: ' In view of these developments, the AD wishes to bring to the attention of the whole world that it can no longer watch helplessly as renegades continue to deplete its ranks through intimidation, harassment and even alleged murder. '
He threatened that the Force should be ready to kill as many Lagosians as they would 'because henceforth, whenever one of us is killed in such questionable circumstance, we will mobilize and offer to be killed en mass. Enough is enough."
However, reacting to these allegations and threat, Mr Ahmed in company of other police officers promised to look into the grievances of the party. According to him, ' nobody has the right to kill. And if murder had taken place as alleged, the Police would investigate it and get all the suspects arrested. Get my assurance that the police will leave no stone unturned on this matter."
