Daily Sun gathered that the CP had travelled to Abuja for a meeting of senior police officers with the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Sunday Ehindero and instructed his aides to come to the airport to pick him later.
And it was in trying to carry out the instruction that the car with registration number NPF 04-48 got involved in an accident.
Umar told Daily Sun that the accident occurred along the timber village, near Awka.
He said: "While we were climbing a hill, we suddenly came across potholes and as the driver applied the brake, the car just veered off the road and somersaulted."
Umar, who sustained injuries said he was later rushed to the police clinic where he was treated. He, however, accused those who pour diesel along the road of being responsible for the accident.
