PMAN holds concert for Rex Lawson


The Rivers State chapter of the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigerian (PMAN) has said that it has concluded plans to hold this year's annual musical concert in memory of Late Rex Jim Lawson, the legendary music maestro who died many years ago.

The Rivers State chapter of the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigerian (PMAN) has said that it has concluded plans to hold this year's annual musical concert in memory of Late Rex Jim Lawson, the legendary music maestro who died many years ago. This year's occasion will hold on Thursday, January 20, 2005 at the Alfred Diete-Spiff Sports Complex (Civic Centre), Port Harcourt.

According to information reaching us, PMAN, in conjunction with the Rivers State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, has lined up powerful musical artistes for the event. Among those billed to perform that day include veteran artistes like King Sunny Brown; Prince David Bull; Great Sinya and Prince Jerry Deemua.

It will also witness stage performance by the state chapter chairman of PMAN, Arthur Pepple Jnr. including Mozy-B of the now extinct Stone Cold Family.

Guest artistes expected are the mercurial Chief Stephen Osita Osadebe and the 'Guitar Boy' exponent, Sir Victor Uwaifo. In a chat with our man, PMAN's chairman in the state, Arthur Pepple Jnr. said that the occasion is in recognition of the immense contribution of the late Jim Lawson to music in the country especially as it portrayed the ways and thinkings of the Ijaw people.
