This year's Eid-El-Fitr, otherwise known as sallah, could not be celebrated across five Local Government Areas in Katsina State Wednesday following the absence of the traditional ruler of Daura, Alhaji Muhammadu Bashar.

This year's Eid-El-Fitr, otherwise known as sallah, could not be celebrated across five Local Government Areas in Katsina State Wednesday following the absence of the traditional ruler of Daura, Alhaji Muhammadu Bashar.

The secretary to Daura Emirate, Alhaji Sani Abdullahi Zango, who confirmed that the sallah celebrations in the areas had been postponed, said the royal father of the emirate is abroad for medical treatment.

He said the postponement was a collective decision of the emirate council presided over by Galadima Daura, Engineer Ahmadu Amadu 111.

He explained that though they were not celebrating, the people of Daura, Zango Mairadua and Baure were requested to pray for the health of the emir and peace of the emirate and the nation. Alhaji Sani Abdullahi urged the people to remain law abiding as they wait till next sallah.
Meanwhile, it was pomp in the remaining 29 Local Government Areas of Katsina state including its capital city as the sallah was being marked the thousands of people and visitors from within and outside the state.

In a brief remark on horseback, the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Muhammadu Kabir Usman, told the crowd that thronged his palace to pray for an end to the wave of armed robbery in the state.
The monarch pleaded with the perpetrators of the crime to desist from their refarious acts, promising that "we will not pray for their destruction but for their repentance". Alhaji Kabir Usman noted that if the hoodlums were not caught by the police they would certainly be arrested in the hereafter.
