PRESIDENT Olusegun Obasanjo pleaded yesterday, that he be allowed to concentrate on state matters, particularly the implementation of his administration's reforms for now, following requests for condolence visits by individuals and organisations on account of his wife's death.

In a statement in Abuja, the President urged everyone to respect his wishes and allow him concentrate on his job.

He spoke in reaction to rising requests for condolence visits on him, saying that 'the deep pain of losing his beloved wife can never be fully assuaged."

'However now that she has been laid to rest, the President wishes to revert his full attention to overseeing the successful implementation of his administration's reform agenda and programme," a statement from the office of the Special Assistant to President Obasanjo on Media said.

On behalf of the Obasanjo and Abebe families, President Olusegun Obasanjo thanked all Nigerians and non-Nigerians who through personal visits, emissaries, calls and other means, joined him and his family in mourning his late wife and First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief (Mrs.) Stella Obasanjo. 'President Obasanjo also wishes to express his immense appreciation and gratitude to all those who contributed in one way or the other to giving the First Lady a befitting burial," the statement said.
