AS the nation still mourns the two tragic events that occured last week, the Sasare of Owo, Chief Justus Adetula has called for the total overhaul of the nations aviation industry to prevent further occurences of disaster.
AKURE - AS the nation still mourns the two tragic events that occured last week, the Sasare of Owo, Chief Justus Adetula has called for the total overhaul of the nations aviation industry to prevent further occurences of disaster.
Speaking with Vanguard in Owo after a seven day mourning was declared by the people of the town to honour the first lady,Mrs Stella Obasanjo and the 117 people who died in the ill fated plane crash, Chief Adetula said that the town is grieved by the two tragic events.
According to him the people of the town as a sign of respect for the deceased decided to declare the seven days of mourning.
He also regreted that the aviation industry had not paid much attention to the life span of many of its fleets hence the occurences of disaster in the country.
He said that the nation cannot afford to be losing precious lives ocassioned by the carelessness of the industry adding that the life span of many of the fleets had expired while spare parts are not readily available in the country.
Chief Adetula said that Nigerians were at the mercy of the industry since they would have to patronise them to transact businesses and to make several journeys within and outside the country.
Meanwhile Hundreds of people,PDP party members, Chiefs and community leaders queued to sign the condolence register opened at Chief Fasawe'sresidence at the weekend.
