Bellview plane crash: Pilot's family pleads for help

THE family members of the late pilot of the crashed Bellview Airline, Captain Lambert Imasuen, weekend, appealed to the management of the Airline and the Federal Government to assist the family in taking care of the six children he left behind.

BENIN CITY - THE family members of the late pilot of the crashed Bellview Airline, Captain Lambert Imasuen, weekend, appealed to the management of the Airline and the Federal Government to assist the family in taking care of the six children he left behind.

The mother of the deceased, Mrs Elizabeth Imasuen and one of his wives, Mrs Mobola Oyekan Imasuen, who spoke to Vanguard in Benin City, recounted their last discussions with the deceased and lamented that his death had left the family with no means to cater for the children whom, according to them, are in various schools.
The septuagenarian mother stated amid tears that, 'I am an old woman. My son left six children behind and I do not know how to start taking care of them. I am begging the management of the Airline and the Federal Government, to come and help us. I do not know what to do now, if not for this children I would have died with my son.

'He was supposed to come and introduce me to these children and their mother (pointing at them) because I have not met them before, though he told me about them. Now look at me (sobbing), how do I take up such a herculean task of taking care of these children, an old woman like me. I am begging every body to come to my rescue, please help me tell them, I need help," she appealed.

The deceased's wife, Mobola, who resides in Ibadan recalled with nostalgia how her late husband called her in the morning of that Saturday and promised to see her and the twins that evening, so that they would finalise arrangements for the journey to Benin City, to see his mother. But he did not show up again that evening, until it was learnt that he was in the ill-fated flight 210.

She said, 'I was shocked when I heard he was in that plane that Saturday because in the morning of that same day, he spoke to us on the phone and said he was going to come and pick us in the evening so that we will conclude arrangements for our planned trip to Benin. So I was shocked to see his name on the manifest as one of those in the plane. It means he was not supposed to fly that evening, if not how would he have told me we were going to see that evening. So I still find it difficult to believe.
