POLICEMEN in Owerri have arrested from suspected robbers that attacked a Lagos bound luxury bus, at Nkarahia Junction on the Owerri - Port Harcourt highway.

OWERRI - POLICEMEN in Owerri have arrested from suspected robbers that attacked a Lagos bound luxury bus, at Nkarahia Junction on the Owerri - Port Harcourt highway.

The passengers, who lost cash and assorted personal effects worth over N4 million, were mainly traders travelling to Lagos to make purchases.

Vanguard investigations revealed that a team of officers and men of state Police Command, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the Divisional Police Headquarters, Umuagwo, nabbed the hoodlums as they came to cart away their loot at the robbery site.

Sources at the Divisional Police Headquarters, who pleaded strict anonymity, told Vanguard that as soon as the victims of the robbery reported the incident to them, the police immediately contacted their informants scattered in all the communities around the affected area.

"Not long after, we got wind of where the robbers carefully kept their loot and how they would come the next morning to cart the items away. We laid siege at the area and before long, two of them arrived the scene and were immediately picked up", the police officer revealed.

He also disclosed that under serious interrogation, the captured robbers promptly revealed where their colleagues in crime were hiding and the police was sent to the place, adding that the information proved positive.

"Again, a team of plain clothes policemen were dispatched to the robbers hideout in one of the nearby communities, where the robbery took place. Two others were nabbed but as at the time of talking to you (Vanguard), we are still after one of them strongly suspected to be carrying bullet wound", the officer said.
