May I use this medium to call the attention of the new Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University, LASU, to the plight of part time students, especially in the Department of History and International Studies of the Faculty of Arts, Ojo Campus. Most of us had hoped to enhance our prospects both at our places of work and in the employment market, while some had hoped to add to their qualifications in order to boost their status in the society.
But those of us who chose LASU as the place to realise these dreams of ours are regretting this. No student has graduated from the university since year 2002.
Most students who had stayed upwards of 5 years or more in the department to do a degree programme could not say for real what their performances are, as no results were released to them year in year out until graduation. Those who have problems with their results might go back to write papers they never knew they failed after another 4 to 5 years of graduation.
We therefore hope that the new Vice Chancellor and his administration will prevail on the department to release our results now. Please release our results and save us the embarrassments we have to face both at our places of work and in other places where we have claimed to have graduated from LASU
