HER Guardian Angel must have done it. Having seen ahead the tragic fate of the Bellview flight of Saturday, October 22, the Guardian Angel of former Minister of State for Health, Olufunke Adedoyin, must have done its best to dissuade her ward from taking that trip. But seeing that Olufunke did not catch the prompting and was still determined to fly, the Angel did it: A shot of spiritual chloroform (liquid anaesthetic), applied intravenously.
And Olufunke slept off.
A cousin who had gone to obtain her flight ticket met her in deep slumber.
Providentially, the cousin, who noticed signs of fatigue in the former minister, refrained from waking her up.
That Angel must have hovered around all the while, communicating telepathically to that cousin.
According to a family source in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital: "When Auntie woke up, it was rather too late for her to embark on the journey and she decided to postpone it till Sunday morning."
But there was an error in the ticket obtained, the source added. "The title bore 'Mr' instead of Ms. O. Adedoyin."
Olufunke's name was retained as the sixth on the manifest that was released after the crash.
It was however believed that another passenger could have used the name in the manifest rather than the former minister.
Of course, the relatives seen in Ilorin were full of gratitude to God who "moves in mysterious ways His wonders to perform" for the "narrow miss".
