THE Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) lost five of its staff to the Saturday Belview crash, leaving a heavy air of mourning at the headquarters of the organisation in Abuja.
ABUJA - THE Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) lost five of its staff to the Saturday Belview crash, leaving a heavy air of mourning at the headquarters of the organisation in Abuja.
The staff, Dagaci Sirajo, Inedu Omale, Aminat Bello Mohammed, Abdulkarim Rabiu Bebeji and Akpama Etimie Raymond were returning from an official assignment at the on-going ECOWAS Trade fair in Lagos.
Messrs Sirajo and Omale were lawyers, while the other three were with the computer units and had gone to the trade fair to demonstrate the CAC ON-Line facility to the business community at the fair.
At the entrances of the commission were three condolence registers with the pictures of the deceased.
Churchill Williams, Head of Public Relations of the commission confirmed that the staff went to the CAC pavilion at the Fair to set up the online system for the commission and to assist in consulting with the international communities who will want to obtain availability of their names and if possible register their companies at the trade fair site.
Mr. Williams explained that the commission normally received a lot of request and letter from international communities and embassies to either confirm the genuineness of the Nigerian companies or to do business with, he said the commission was at the trade fair to give personal touch and enlighten them and answer their questions.
According to him, said the Registrar-General, Hammed Mustaph,a had addressed the staff of the commission and directed that all staff should observed a one day mourning in all the offices within and outside Abuja and the flag should fly at half mast to honour the departed colleagues
R-G was said to have personally led a delegation to the families of the victims to pay them a condolence visit where he promised that the commission would assist families of the late staff to the site of the crash
The commission has also set apart one million naira each as education grant for the children of the late staff in addition to promoting them, post-humous, to the next level as some of them were already ripe for promotion to the level.
