Tears, grief, gloom and despair enveloped the Garki residence of the deceased victim of the ill-fated Bellview plane, General Manager, Corporate Planning and Strategy of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), Engr. P.C. Ukoh as top managment of the utilities yesterday visited the wife to commiserate with her.
Tears, grief, gloom and despair enveloped the Garki residence of the deceased victim of the ill-fated Bellview plane, General Manager, Corporate Planning and Strategy of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), Engr. P.C. Ukoh as top managment of the utilities yesterday visited the wife to commiserate with her.
Mrs. Ukoh described her husband's death as a devastating blow to the family. "My husband was like a father to me because he married me as an orphan and has been so dear to me"
She said the father died when she was still aged 12 years. The widow said she would like the management of PHCN (formerly NEPA) to assist the family in giving a befitting burial to her late husband. At the headquarters of PHCN, staff and collegues of the deceased were all in a mourning mood. Some of them who spoke to THISDAY described Ukoh as a fine, easy-going gentleman who endeared himself to everyone in the company.
PHCN displayed an enlarged photograph of the late GM at the reception area of the power company where a condolence register was kept for mourners.
Sources said the late Ukoh commenced a journey to the great beyond when he withdrew from the company of other colleagues after attending a burial ceremony in Ogidi, Anambra state and instead of going back to Abuja, decided to visit Lagos enroute Port Harcourt. It was on his way back to Abuja from Lagos that fateful Saturday night that he met his death in the plane crash.
A native of Alai, Item in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, Ukoh is survived by a wife and three children.
