Twenty-eight year-old, Queen Ozekhome was on duty when death came last Saturday evening in the Bellview Airline crash which occured in Lisa Igbore village, Ifo Local Government of Ogun State. She was a cabin crew member.
Recalling memories of late Queen, her uncle, human rights activist/lawyer, Mike Ozekhome (SAN) said, "she was very close to me, and she lived with me for a very long time. I even remember when my wife and I took her to attend her Secondary school at Federal Government Girls College, Owerri, Imo State, in 1990. She later went on to attend Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State between 1997 - 2001 before doing her National Youth Service Corps scheme with Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Kaduna, Kaduna State. Queen later worked with a Tele- communications outfit in Abuja before joining Bellview".
"She was very close to me, very intelligent, personable, honest and imaginative. She was to marry sometime in December this year, and the whole family had been preparing for the wedding, which was to take place in our hometown, Agenebode, Edo State. Queen had already bought herself and her Chief Bridesmaid's wedding gowns, and preparations were afoot. When she called me in Lagos on Thursday, she told me she was bringing her fiancé to me on Friday (October 21) for a formal introduction, and wanted to find out when I would return from Abuja.
"We spoke last on Friday around 10.00pm and we never got to speak after that. When I learnt of the crash, I called her line, there was no response. The whole family is bereaved. Her Dad and Mum are down right now. They are not very happy with this waste of a life. She was very diligent and hard-working. I even got to know she was on her third flight on that day (Saturday). She had earlier flown to Kaduna and Abuja, even though she was not supposed to go on more than two trips in a day. But because of her personable nature, they used her again. We will all miss her", he added
