The wife of Nigerian President OLUSEGUN OBSANJO died yesterday after undergoing surgery in Spain. STELLA OBSANJO, described as Obasanjo's "beloved wife," was 60, said the one-sentence statement signed by presidential spokeswoman Remi Oyo.

The Spanish Foreign Ministry said Obasanjo's wife died at a hospital in Marbella, in the Puerto Banus area which does plastic surgery.
Spanish pathologists were performing an autopsy after a local judge ordered for it.
