Exam fraud cartel smashed in Obudu College

A CARTEL which engages in examination malpractice at the Federal College of Education, Obudu, has been smashed.

CALABAR - A CARTEL which engages in examination malpractice at the Federal College of Education, Obudu, has been smashed.

Following a tip-off, Provost of the school, Mr. Joseph Ntibi, accompanied by the Police, invaded the venue where a certain lecturer allegedly invites concerned students and demands fees depending on grades requested.

The lecturer has been suspended and handed over to the police.
Also handed over to the police in Obudu were those alleged to be the agents of the lecturer who collect fees from the benefiting students.
In a statement, the School's Public Relations Officer, James Egba, said that the Provost, acting on a tip-off, 'decided to do it himself by going to the venue of the examination malpractice.

"The said lecturer (names withheld) allegedly took some scripts he was marking to a hideout, following which he would send for students concerned and demand a fee, depending on grades requested."

When caught in the act, the lecturer allegedly confessed "as well as the students who said they were asked to pay some money" for good grades.
Egba also said that some students were in the habit of 'hiring mercenaries to writeexaminations for them. Some lecturers even hire non-teachers of the school to mark scripts."
By so doing, 'such students are secretly encouraged to patronize the mercenary lecturers for a fee."
