Flying Eagles player and Dolphins of Port Harcourt defender, Kennedy Chinwo, has signed a four-year contract with Sherrif FC of Mobova, Russia worth $100,000, Daily Sunsport can authoritatively reveal.
Chinwo signed, Sunday, after his club, Dolphins, qualified to play at the final of this year's CAF Confederation Cup, beating Ismaili of Egypt to the second position.
Despite missing a 90th minute penalty, Sherrif officials who had come to watch Chinwo insisted they wanted to sign him and eventually had their way.
After the signing ceremony, Chinwo told Daily Sunsport he had wanted to snub the contract because of the number of years involved but had a change of mind because he wanted to play outside the shores of Nigeria at the end of current Premier League season.
"I have signed a four year contract worth $100,000 with a Russian club. Initially, I was afraid of this contract because I do not want to spend more than two years in Russia. However, since I am a beginner, I have to start somewhere. The contract is too small, but I know my performance with the club would open doors for me before the contract expires.
"Already, I have offers from Borrussia Dortmund, Germany and Auxerre of France have indicated interest in me, but I am taking my chance not to endanger my future."
Chinwo is expected to jet out to Russia after this CAF Confederation Cup final with ASFAR of Morocco, November 20, in Rabbat.
