The Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Alhaji Nuhu Ribadu has been urged to publish the names of the governors he alledged stashed away cash and property worth over $17million abroad for his crusade against corruption to be taken seriously.
The Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Alhaji Nuhu Ribadu has been urged to publish the names of the governors he alledged stashed away cash and property worth over $17million abroad for his crusade against corruption to be taken seriously.
This challenge was given in a statement by the National Association of Gbaramatu Students (NAGS) signed by its president and secretary Messrs Pondi Kestin and Paul Bebenimibo, respectively.
It stated that for the purpose of transparency and sincerity in his anti corruption crusade, there should not be sacred cow and selective justice as this would make nonesense of the crusade as he has already started.
NAGS in its statement condemned the arrest of Bayelsa State Governor, Dr. Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, which according to them, is a ploy by President Olusegun Obasanjo and the British government to supress the agitation for resource control and true federalism.
It added that Ijaw people have become a target for the federal government hence the clamp down. "We condemned in entirety the arrest and subsequent Kangaroo prosecution of Alhaji Asari Dokubo and the 11 sympathetic Ijaw students that were arrested at the High court premises during the Kangaroo trial of Dokubo".
It also stated that if the EFCC was sincere about its crusade, why shielding other corrupt government officials, to the extent of being afraid to publish their names if not for political selfish interest of their master.
It said truth and sincerity is missing in this direction.
It however,called on the federal government to release Ahaji Dokubo or face the wrath of over 1million south south students in the Nov.10,sitting of the high court Abuja.
