About 600 staff of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) yesterday received letters relieving them of their services from the apex bank.
CBN Deputy Director, Corporate Affairs, Mr. Tony Ede who disclosed this to THISDAY yesterday night said the sack letters were distributed to the staff through their heads of department at about 6 pm.
He confirmed the wave of sack, which swept across nearly all the departments and said it did not affect any director.
Ede added that letters were also given to the remaining members of staff whom, according to him, were either given new roles or have old status confirmed.
The CBN had in a statement
on Sunday disclosed that it was cutting its staff strength by 600 and redeploying hundreds of others.
The measure, the apex regulatory authority said, was in line with its restructuring programme code named EAGLES.
