Okocha up for world player of the year


Jay Jay Okocha has been nominated for the FIFA World player of the year award. The Nigerian midfielder joins fellow Premiership stars from Chelsea, Arsenal, Man United and Liverpool on the shortlist.

Jay Jay Okocha has been nominated for the FIFA World player of the year award. The Nigerian midfielder joins fellow Premiership stars from Chelsea, Arsenal, Man United and Liverpool on the shortlist.

The award is to be announced on the 19th of December, with one of the 50 on the shortlist winning the prize.

Despite many considering the captain to have had an average season, Okocha joins fellow Premier League players Gerrard, Lampard, Henry and van Nistelrooy, as well as last years winner Ronaldinho, on the shortlist for the prize.
