DUTSE - TRAGEDY occurred at Baranda forest in Dutse local government area of Jigawa state when a professional hunter shot and killed a middle age man who he mistook for an antelope.
The tragedy occurred on Sunday evening when one Mohammed Akilu accompany by his colleagues went to the forest to hunt for their usual meal, not knowing to the group leader Mohammed Akilu, he set his eyes on a 25 year old boy who was in the forest for unknown reason.
The hunter did not waste his time as he quickly set his gun and move closer to the boy thereby shot him to death.
After making sure that the animal he shot is dead the hunter moved closer to the scene to carry the meat home and take part of the meat to the market for sales, to his surprise he saw a 25 year old boy full of blood instead of the antelope he is expecting to see.
Confirming the unfortunate incident to Vanguard, the police public relations officer ASP Nwankolo Ejike said that the body of the 25 year old was found near a river as the hunter after realizing that he killed a human being he disposed the dead body into a river.
According to the police image maker, the village head of Baranda was informed and he lead them to the scene with swimmers where they remove the body of the 25 year-old boy from the river and given to the family for burial.
ASP Ejike call on anybody who have any information on the matter to please assist the police, while investigation is still going on by the state police command to trace the culprit and bring him to book.
