Gov Haruna vows to hand corrupt officials over to EFCC

AGAINST the backdrop of the recent arrest of three top officials of Adamawa State government, Governor Boni Haruna has vowed to hand over any officer found wanting to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for investigation and possible prosecution.

YOLA - AGAINST the backdrop of the recent arrest of three top officials of Adamawa State government, Governor Boni Haruna has vowed to hand over any officer found wanting to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for investigation and possible prosecution.

Boni spoke in Yola Wednesday while swearing in Mr. Pithron Power as the acting secretary to the state government. The Governor explained that the appointment of an acting SSG became imperative to ensure that government machinery was intact as the nabbed officers remained in the custody of the EFCC men.

He stated that to ensure government remained focus in its service to the people, the vacuum created by the arrest and detention of the erstwhile SSG and two others must be filled. Haruna restated that government's resolve to hand over any official found wanting stemmed from the belief that corruption and good governance cannot co-exist. He therefore warned all government appointees to avoid acts that could bring them to justice.

The Governor however urged the people to avoid the temptation to unnecessarily sensationalising the situation by engaging in rumour mongering and outright falsehood.

Responding, the new Acting SSG, Mr Pithon Power promised that he would not let government down assuring that he will work to justify the confidence reposed on him.
