An Abuja Chief Magistrate's court Monday, granted bail to Boma Dokubo, sister of the detained leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force (NDPVF), Alhaji Mujaheed Asari-Dokubo and 12 others arrested last week when the NDPVF leaders appeared in court on treason charges.

Chief Magistrate Shuaibu Ahmed, who released the accused on bail, said they should provide two sureties in the sum of N1 million each with landed property in Abuja. He said that the two sureties, who must be civil servants not below the rank of level 12 officers, must be resident at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Attempts by their counsel, Donald Ariko, to get a review of the bail conditions failed as the court turned down the request.
The suspects were charged to court by the police for various offences, which include unlawful assembly and disturbing public peace. They were also accused of wearing, carrying and displaying, in public, emblems or flags in such a manner that amounted to an offence.
Other offences against them include joining or coming together to be in assembly to cause a disturbance of the peace and failing to disperse, acting in furtherance of the common intention, conspired and jointly assembled unlawfully at the premises of Federal High Court in Maitama, Abuja and carrying different types of placards and Biafran flags as well as chanting inciting songs like, "we no go gree, Asari Dokubo must be free, on Biafra we stand", which caused disturbance to public peace.
The matter has been fixed for November 8 and 9, 2005, for hearing.
