Embattled Bayelsa State Governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha appeared before the Bow, Street Magistrate Court in London Thursday, but had his criminal trial for money laundering charges shifted to November 3.
Alamieyeseigha was arrested on September 15, at the Heathrow Airport in London over alleged involvement in money laundering and arraigned in court on September 28, on a two-count charge to the tune of £1.8 million.
The trial magistrate had adjourned till Thursday for trial to commence, but the Crown Prosecution Service pleaded for more time to conclude its investigations.
The matter was consequently adjourned to November 3, while the governor remained in custody at Her Majesty Prison in Brixton, Jebb Avenue London.
Meanwhile, Alamieyeseigha's battle for bail would resume today at an appellate court, Crown Court on Southwark Street.
The governor's team of lawyer led by Fidelis Oditah had headed for the court last Friday in a bid to seek bail for the Bayelsa chief executive.
At today's sitting it would be determined whether the prosecution and defence had agreed on the bail terms, £1.5 million and three sureties in like sum which the defence considered stringent.
